REI EGAWA
Wildlife Photographer & Filmmaker
Ocean Storyteller.
I am a Japanese-American ocean storyteller born and raised in New York, now based in Cornwall, UK. My visual work has explored the wonders of the underwater world, from the miniature alien-like creatures of the United Kingdom, the charismatic killer whales of the Pacific Northwest, to the beautiful coral reefs of the Red Sea.
Growing up in a bicultural environment, I work to intertwine my lived experiences with nuance in all the stories I tells. I am a strong advocate for women within the wildlife filmmaking and professional diving industries, having been featured on Women in Ocean Science. Alongside my work as an ocean storyteller, I cherish my roles as a marine wildlife guide, youth conservation educator, and scuba diving guide.
